Kongsberg Maritime consolidates its engineering activities
Kongsberg Maritime (KM) opted for the Engineering Base software to assist with the development and design of maritime automation systems. The platform is deployed as a standardized, global CAE system, superseding the isolated solutions used previously.

"From integration into our IT environment, through linking to ERP and other project tools, to adaptation to specific customer or KM requirements, the system proves to be very flexible and open."

Enabling your engineering team to handle task complexity
The big advantage of Engineering Base is that the software covers all engineering disciplines, from process and automation engineering through to electrical design. Collaboration between the individual disciplines is extremely important, especially in shipbuilding.
Cable routing in particular plays a huge role, with several miles of cable sometimes needing to be laid. Here, Engineering Base Cable provides the perfect solution, as it greatly simplifies cable routing. When planning ship wiring, the electrical and mechanical specialists are both dependent on each other's data. It is also particularly important in shipbuilding to maintain a sense of spatial orientation. This is where the 3D link-up for Engineering Base Cable comes into play, as it integrates mechanical information directly into the digital electrical harness model. This greatly simplifies collaboration between mechanical and electrical development by allowing both disciplines to work in parallel and retrieve information in a consistently up-to-date, synchronized form – accelerating the planning process significantly.
"Engineering Base puts the data at the heart of everything. Everyone involved in the engineering stage can access, use and process any piece of data as and when required."
Anton Kim, General Manager in Korea
