With a growing number of orders incoming, ČMŽO recently settled on a new software solution for preparing project plans and production documents: the Engineering Base cooperation platform. This has superseded the previous method of documenting circuit diagrams and assembly plans, which was no longer able to cope with the increase in demand. The aim of the switchover is to make working on projects faster and more efficient, while also facilitating smooth coordination between project planning, purchasing and production.
The implementation process is currently underway, as are trials as part of pilot projects. Luboš Meloun, head of the project planning department, explains how the system's introduction was surprisingly straightforward: “It was easier than expected to integrate Engineering Base, especially with the support of our partner Technodat. Because the system is Windows-based, our project engineers only needed a day to get to grips with it.”
Even at this early stage of the test phase, significant time and cost savings have been possible. The flexible adaptability of Engineering Base – for industry-specific circuit diagrams and design drawings, for instance – clearly sets the system apart in the eyes of ČMŽO. “I'm certain that Engineering Base will eventually establish itself in our company on a permanent basis,” says Meloun emphatically. “The platform's key benefit is its capacity for customization.”
