Winning the race against time with standards
What is particularly important to you at WG meetings?
M. Wedde: I am particularly interested in a market-standardized procedure and the associated technological development. Against the background of the energy revolution, Industry 4.0, etc., this gains further quality. Resource pressure is becoming more and more noticeable in our market. Without standardization, the risk of losing the race against time increases.
A. Hoch: For me it is finding common solutions: employees from various companies and with different views jointly work out ideas and solutions for complex requirements. This body of experts, which is so valuable because of its diversity, makes decisions for global specifications. They enable the consistency of projects across company boundaries.
Which of the jointly developed topics is your highlight?
Hoch: For me, the highlight is the holistic view of the big picture, especially the data model. Engineering Base is not a graphically oriented tool and thus offers a multitude of different options for reusing the data it contains across disciplines.
Wedde: In the past, this was clearly the improvements to the QA tools in order to be able to accurately check the agreed standards. Currently, supporting the technological change to Engineering Base while maintaining the standardization is my main focus. In the future I see further need e.g. in supporting the user to master and secure the new data qualities. In my opinion, interaction with other systems will also gain in importance.
